What is Stuff Worth Knowing?
I love entertainment. It takes up a large part of my life. I’ve written about video games professionally for 12 years. I was a long-time moderator at Millarworld, the forum that sprung up around comic writer Mark Millar. Otakon, one of the bigger East Coast anime conventions, had me on its staff for about 17 years. I’ve freelanced at IGN and SlashFilm, talking about all things film and television.
I love video games, comics, film, television, and more. I also keep track of the business surrounding all of them. Why? Because form follows function. The types of games, shows, and films you get are determined by the business models that feed them. You can’t figure out where you’re going until you think about the ship that’s getting you there.
This means I read a ton of news. Which brings us here. Stuff Worth Knowing is for those folks who care a bit about a lot. This is an actual newsletter focused on keeping you up-to-date on all of these various areas in entertainment. At the end of every week, I’ll wrap up the main news stories that are worth your time and include some information as to why they might matter.
If that’s a useful service for you, you can subscribe. As of this writing, there is no paid subscription, but that’ll likely come next week after I figure things out. I’ll also be adding a second release, tentatively named ChartChitChat, which will go over the major entertainment charts of the week, including the box office, Nielsen television charts, Netflix’ Top 10 charts, and the Steam charts.
